Many people want to know, '"what the heck is a palooza?"  The first year of Palatine's PROMISE we tried to have an activity in the cafeteria for International Mix It Up At Lunch Day when a senior summit leader informed us, 'No one is going to do that.  It sounds boring and you can't MAKE kids move around and talk to each other.  It needs to be something cool like a palooza- That's it!  Let's call it Lunchapalooza!"  and the rest is history.

 

That year, we went from asking students to simply move tables at lunch and talk to someone new to creating a 2 day Lunchapalooza that knocked everyone's socks off!  We have a karaoke dj, video gaming, henna tattoos, fundraising, a talent show and even more! Teaching for Tolerance awarded us a Mix It Up Model School in 2013.  

 

Now, not only do we celebrate Mix It Up At Lunch Day with Lunchapalooza, we have Artsapalooza, Danceapalooza, Bandapalooza, and a Health and Safety Fair 'Palooza.  Each year we also choose an organization to support during at least one palooza, collecting books, toys, clothes and raising money.  We have helped our community and beyond with these efforts as the PROMISE student leaders guide the way for the school.
